News: Supercheap Auto Racing Hidden Valley Practice Report

Published: Tuesday, 24th June, 2008

'Darwin's Own' Paul Morris recorded the 14th best time in his Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore during today's practice for the SKYCITY Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway, while team-mate Russell Ingall was three places further back.

Morris had no troubles stepping back into his SCAR Commodore after earlier in the week returning from the United States where he competed in his first NASCAR race on the Infineon Raceway road course at Sonoma, California a fortnight ago.

Ingall, the highest finishing Holden driver at Sandown last month, had his second run on new tyres affected by a puncture, having to use one older tyre in the crucial last moments of the session. Ingall expects to be a top 10 qualifier tomorrow.

Paul Morris, #67 Supercheap Auto Racing Holden Commodore VE:
"My car feels alright, the new tyre didn't feel too different to me, so I can probably be a bit more aggressive in qualifying. I spend a lot of time in Darwin and Russell's wife, Julia, is a local girl as well, and the support we've been receiving from the locals has been tremendous. We're hoping the Supercheap Auto Racing team can give them a great result."

Russell Ingall, #39 Supercheap Auto Racing Holden Commodore VE:
"Today's session was a pretty good one, my Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore is going alright. We had a puncture with our second set of tyres and had to put a used one back on, so there was a couple tenths there which would have put us in the top 10. I think we're a top 10 qualifier. It's been a bit of a juggle as the times were slower today, while the new tyre, I think, has changed the balance of the car a little. We had that right with the old tyre, so it just means we've got to work on that a bit but it's the same for everyone."
