What are people's thoughts on the race? My personal thoughts are that it was one of the most boring races ever, the only factor that made it interesting was the rain. When Tander inherited the lead with about 20 laps to go i could watch no longer, i'd had enough. |

Yes I share your thoughts MichaelVt. Teams appeared to treat event as test session for Bathurst with the odd exception. I think Russell had a fair dinkum attitude and Paul did a good job to support him. Also Jamie Whincup was noticably upset after event and was pretty harsh on himself for error allowing Tander the lead. The whole concept of the event did not grab my imagination. |

Yes it seems like it was more of a test session than anything. And i agree, Russell did a great job and i was pleasantly surprised with Paul's efforts, he kept the car steady and in one piece and im very happy about that. The whole event could not even hold a candle to Bathurst. I don't think they pulled it off. |

crowngirl 2 months ago | I thought Phillip Island was a better enduro round than Sandown used to be. I've driven on the PI track and can appreciate the technical difficulty of it. The PI track also has a great backdrop. The rain certainly livened it up, but I don't think the race itself was particularly dull. I think one way to make it more interesting is to increase the compulsory pit stops. That's the main difference between Bathurst and the other enduro, no matter where it is held. Also, if Channel 7 did half as good a job as 10 used to do in covering the V8s, then it would be more interesting because you would know what was going on and if anything significant happened during an ad break, you would at least get a replay that actually showed the event. Although, sometimes the Channel 7 commentary team don't even mention what happened! Also, I welcome back the top 10 shootout with open arms for next year. The qualifying sessions this year have been dreadfully dull because nobody goes all out until the last couple of laps. |

Yes Phillip Island was a better enduro than Sandown due to the layout /structure and nature of the track and Sandown was a good sprint round and a stand out from the other venues we have witnessed this year except for Clipsal. The concept introduced by V8SCA was the point that did not attract to the event. It was confusing to everybody concerned including the teams. Whilst it was admirable for the V8SCA to introduce a fresh concept it did not work. Afterall the end result was much as anticipated. I agree with Brad Jones that Co-Drivers should be allowed a free day of testing with their respective teams to associate themselves with the cars. This day of testing should not be deducted from that allowed each team under the guidelines. As for TV coverage it does leave a lot to be desired and without Crompton they would be lost souls. As for the top ten shootout it should never have been dismissed by the V8SCA in the first place. Once they seen this present format was not an answer it should have been re-considered albeit half way through the season and the shootout returned. All in All this enduro did not live up to expectations and it should have done. This is our pinnacle motorsport category in Aust and it was given the tools to highlight this factor and lets face it they failed.. In this text I think the teams (NOT ALL) contributed to this factor and whilst competition points were available to be had it was plain to see many were treating the event as a test session in a lead up to Bathurst.
