I was recently at the Perth round and It was a pretty average weekend all up! Only a part of this topic is going to be about Rusell but all up i'm really disappointed in how the weekend went! Yeah the weather was average but i had the chance to watch the race in the Carrera Cup lunch tent so that was ok For a state that only gets one round i feal really sorry for them!!! OK...so that was something i'd wanted to get off my chest since i left that weekend.... NOW ONTO RUSSELL.... So i did my little sneak into to pits and had a great chat with craig..always welcomes me with a big smile and always has time... waked a bit further and steven richards was there and chatted to him to... Since i can remember and now been 23 i've known and always talked to these drivers and including russell who has always been my favourate i've spent so many years waiting around or that one autograph at the end of the race meeting, i've got photo's of me and him when i was a young teenager up untill 2 years ago and i don't want to know how much mony i've put into the teams to show that i support him. So as i was trying to find my way out i saw russell from afar and thought AWESOME i'll get to have talked to all three of my fav... so i walked up beside him with a great smile on my face and said hi and and started saying as you would "So i'm sure you've been asked a thousand times about when your getting some merch on the track" and he gave me this horrible look and snapped at me saying "well som people don't understand that you need to get a car running befor getting that crap together" and with that i said well do you have anything like a hat or something small i can buy from you today?? NOPE he's got nothing and NOTHING has been made... BUT... so that's why i say Julia his wife walking around i a rally nice ladys team jacket... now i know i dont expect the same treatment as his wife but come on fellas... Getting the car going and putting out merch is surly no done by the same person?????? Or that other people are saing there getting stuff from the supercheap shops.?? He totally treated me like shit that day and honestly it's really changed my opinion of him. He was rude and horrible just like everyone states that paul is! The funny thing was that he was acting like he was a top notch grade one driver and thought he was the best...The worst part of the day was walking out and seeing that even drivers like fabian coulthard have merch out and so i walked up to there merch stand and had a great chat the the lovely lady behind the counter and it shows that if your nice and approchable that you'l get far!!! Russell you should have quit whilst you still had something in you! It's sad to think you going to be one of those old drivers who just keeps in the game for the money because you've lost the passion for your fans! And just befor i was about to write this i saw the comment saying that he was going to release personal merch!!! about 5years to late mate!!! and thats it |

Hang on a sec, Correct me if im wrong, but didnt Russ have a hugely disappointing round? And wouldnt that imply that he would be in an awful mood for the whole weekend? You probably just caught him at a bad time. When the drivers are at a race meeting the last thing they want to be discussing is merchandise. They are trying to concentrate on making their car as fast as possible. I have no doubt that when Russell has free time he is organising his new Enforcer line of clothing etc. If you want to change your whole attitude towards Russell after you went up to bug him and he let out a bit of frustration then fine. The rest of understand his frustration and know he will be back up the front of the grid at the next round in Melbourne. Merchandise 5 years to late ey? Forgive me if im wrong, but wasnt Russ winning a championship and showing other successes in the last 5 years? Russell has not his passion for the fans, NOT AT ALL. And id he was only in it for the money then he wouldnt be taking out time to do the Aussie Racing Cars would he? I rest my case. |

Hey Michael... Firstly i didn't know there was a case to be talked about and rested?? It wan't something i was looking for a discussion/ argument about it is what i felt and what i saw But just to make a few things clear it was actually saturday morning that i bumped into him and from what i understand he was doing pretty good then with the car so there was no need for him to be in a bad mood! And my comment about him been 5years to late with the clothing line is that why now?? why not 5 years ago when he was at his peak??? or maybe even befor then when he would have (probably) had his biggest fan base when he was at castrol? As i said.... i'm pretty sure the mechanics arn't releasing the clothing line so i dont see what impact it'd have on the car & also i can't really imagine russell sitting down sketching up what he would like for a clothing line so i dont think all the excuses under the sun could really justify why any merch isnt out yet! And racing aussie cars has nothing to do wth a fan base and how he treats them??? Yeah it means he wants to race?? So you say he'l be at the top in melbourne??? and that it's all the cars/ team fault?? come on... even if i was his number one supporter i'd be realising his loosing his game! Dont get me wrong i hope he gets back up there but if he couldn't do it with one of the number one committed teams then what makes you think he'l do it with a team owner that has nothing but more money than sense?? Yes i do agree that russell got delt with shit at SBR and at Castrol and still at Supercheap but when do excuses end??????????? |

You used a lot of question marks in your reply, very interesting. Firstly, i dont care about the way Russell 'supposedly' treated you, because in my opinion he obviously did not want to talk about merchandise, and if i was in his position, neither would i. A drivers main focus is on winning and being the fasted he (or she) can be. If it was on the saturday morning then that would have been exactly what he was thinking about. When someone poses some insignificant question about merchandise, why would he care about that, it was a distraction he did not want. So how do you know there was no reason for him to be in a bad mood? 5 years to late? Well if he was concentrating on his own merchandise lines 5 years ago then i dont think he would have shown the successes he did during those 5 years, once again it would have been an unneccessary distraction. There could be plenty of reasons why the new Enforcer line is not out yet, they have to design them, check them, modify them, produce them, distribute them in what can be a very lengthy process. A process which is probably underway. I know Aussie Racing cars has nothing to do with his fan base, my point with the Aussie Racing cars was that it proves he is not just in it for the money, he still has a passion for racing. I did not blame anyone for Russells recent performances (where'd you get that from?). I mean look at Perth, even though Russ had a terrible round, Paul Morris (of all people) was right up near the top 10. That has not been seen in a very, very, very long time. A true supporter would still have faith in Russell and his abilities which have been shown in some great race pace in the opening rounds of this year. I believe that Russell is doing exeptionally well considering the team he is in and the age he is at. Go the Enforcer! |

mattforcer39 6 months ago | i agree with michael tv on everything he has said the last thing he would want to be talking about is merchandise on a race weekend if you wanted to talk to him about merchandise you should catch him on a day such as the supercheap auto open day or when he is at a shop he will be more relaxed there |

I'm sorry, Tho in the heading i guess it looks like i've asked a question that i've wanted answered but in the end i was just so annoyed at the way he treated me i just needed to vent somewhere!! I know what i saw and i know what was said and each to there own but in the 22years or so that i've been going to the track and for most of them i've followed Russell he's never talked to/ acted towards anyone like he did to me that day... all i'm saying is that people can change and i'm all for accepting that because as i was a young girl at the track the driver that showed me the most respect/ gave me there hat/ and a photo with/ took me and my mum into his bus for a drink was PAUL MORRIS!!!! So i do believe people can change with age Paul has and in my opinion so has Russell! |
|
michaelvt 6 months ago |
So then why were you asking if Pauls attitude has become attached to Russell if it was Paul who "treated" you with the most "respect"? Contradiction? And yeah if you post a topic with a question mark then someones most likely going to answer it, hahaha |
|
Lauren 6 months ago |
Because underneath the statement where i said that paul was lovely to me i did say but thigs can change with age meaning that Paul has turned for the worse, and adding to that statement that i think Pauls attitude has rubbed off on Russell.. So there's no contradiction |

I have to agree with Lauren on this one. Regardless of how horrific a race drivers meeting is, there is no need to treat fans like crap. Fans pay massive amounts of money to watch races nowadays, and if all drivers acted like that, there would be no fans at all. hence, no fans, no sport, and no job for these big money makers. all is fair in love and war. treat fans with respect, keep them coming to the track. In saying that, im a massive fan of Ingall, and if he had talked to me that way, I would be wanting to vent as well. I would have thought "why did I spend all this money on a race pass, only to be treated like crap from one of my heroes, for asking a simple question" Cheers Stido |

Cheers Stido Thank god someone else thinks that just because his a "v8 Not so SUPERcar driver" that he can treat fans like crap! I was starting to think that everyone thought it was ok for that to happen... What if it was someone's kid that he spoke to like that?? or maybe he wouldn't talk to a kid like that but why is it any better that he talks to an adult like that?? And.... honestly i've never paid to get into a race meeting in my life but i think i've made it up in my fair share of Merch buying!! But these days, if i had to pay the OVER RATED price of what there asking to get into a race meeting then i probably wouldn't go!!! It's all turned into politics, more adds on tv and way to many friggen safety cars!!! haha... but i'm sure that a whole other topic!! I say bring back Amaroo and get some decent racing (and drivers) back and then i might pay the price |
|
michaelvt 6 months ago | Then you shouldnt be complaining if you have never had to pay to get in, unlike the rest of us poor buggers. |
